Gesture Drawings done in class
In this unit, we started with gesture drawings. This is the basic body frames in their particular positions. The media we used was pastel on paper. When drawing these figures, I was taught to start with the head, shoulders, and arms followed by the spine, hips and then legs. There are various kinds of proportions to keep in mind while drawing human figures such as a an average human would be around 8 heads, and that your arm span is the same as your height, and so on. Here is a chart showing the proportions we learnt in class.I feel that practice gives me potential to become confident in drawing human figures. The slight improvement in the figures that I have drawn can be seen. I had great fun drawing these and realized that there is so much more to a human figure than just its pose.

This is a real life portrait of Ms.Hwang done in class, using only black and white acrylic paint.
Sketched from a realife photo using pencil on paper. This is a result of practicing face proportions.
This is a portrait of my sister dome for a short assignment in class. I have used warm shades of water colors to paint this keeping proportions, and light and shadow in mind.
